Kieran and Eva travelled to Kyrgyzstan in August of 2013 to go horse riding for a week.
Bishkek - to Song Köl
On the 13th of August 2013, Eva and Kieran flew from Vienna via Istanbul to Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan. They stayed in Bishkek for a day in order to organise the trip to Song Köl (Lake). The Community Based Tourism (CBT) was very helpful and organised everything (http://www.cbtkyrgyzstan.kg/index.php/en/).
On the 15th of August they travelled by share taxi (500 som pp) to the town of Kochkor, a quaint village near the Song Köl lake. From here they were brought to the beginning of the trek route - a yurt in the middle of nowhere.
What followed was 5 days of horse riding, sleeping in yurts, eating sheep meat and rice, drinking chai and listening to several french tourists complain about the conditions. A video detailing the highlights of the trip can be found here:
